Provenance: The traditional Mayan diamond is heavily prominent in the designs from this region as it is to the Mayans as the cross is to the western world ǃ symbolising the 4 cardinal directions of North, South East and West. The brocade embellishment often depicts the national emblem of the Quetzal or the mythical Mayan feathered serpent, the Quetzcotal.
